Celebrate
Time to sing!
Celebrate good times, come on!
It's a celebration
Celebrate good times, come on!
Let's celebrateThere's a party goin' on right here
A celebration to last throughout the years
So bring your good times, and your laughter too
We gonna celebrate your party with you…
It’s a seven day party here and I know you can feel that boogie too!
To tell you the truth I never thought I’d get here. It feels wonderful and I feel great. There’s something about the body that switches gears when you stop eating. Firstly, I would like to dissuade you of the myth of “Starvation Mode” and pictures of people in concentration camps or kids with distended bellies. Not that it doesn’t happen, but that it doesn’t happen in the first 7 days. I am living proof.
What does happen is that in the first two days your body consumes all the sugary aspects (glycogen, glucose, etc…) lying in the blood/tissues and then switches to another regime called ketosis. The switch, especially first time can be a little unsettling, you just have to march through it.
Now, I’m no metabolic expert and I don’t want to give you a scientific thesis here but I believe that getting into this regime every once and a while is very beneficial. It’s like turning on an engine that you forgot you have, a hidden engine that hasn’t been used for a long time, if ever. And boy does this engine hum, it roars and puts you in a sublime state of mind.
No wonder every yogi and every major religion has embraced fasting.
Your brain functions actually clear up, you get a renewed form of energy. I have never slept so well in my life. Last night was like a gift from heaven. I woke up utterly refreshed.
Speaking of ketosis, I did an experiment yesterday…
Keyto
So I bought this gadget like a year ago when it was still being crowd-sourced. You can find it here. It’s a pretty nifty device that measures your breath ketones, which give a good indication of what level of ketosis you are in. Yesterday, I was clearing out my drawer when it popped up, out of nowhere and invited my for a test. Now that would be an interesting experiment. I had completely forgotten about this thing!

And it turns out that I’m knocking it out of the park, well not quite... The only reason I’m probably not higher (8) is because of the coconut water I’ve been drinking. That’s probably a good thing anyway!
Measurement
I’ve also been avoiding the question of weight loss, not because it isn’t happening but because I think it is a side effect. I’ve lost about 4-6kgs (9-14lbs). I’m not sure exactly because I forgot to measure myself when starting this journey. Which brings me to measurement…
I think we live in a tyranny of measurement, which was first brought to fashion at the time of Taylor and the advent of the manufacturing era (1910’s). We measure every thing, time primarily with the maxim,
time is money.
But not just time, but our wealth (how big is your house, how beautiful is your wife/husband, how many kids do you have, what your bank balance…), our health (by way of weight, muscle tone, marathon time, blood factors, etc…), how much we eat, what we eat (paleo, vegan, vegetarian, carnivore etc…). The economy is primarily ruled under the regime of measurement, GDP, balance of trade, balance sheet, profit, loss, benefits... Our schooling and education is measured, the exams you take, the grades you get and how smart you are (IQ). Your screen time on the phone is now measured, the number of steps you’ve taken is reported to you daily, the hours of meditation you did last week, shown in a nice graph with all the metrics. What time you wake up, what time you sleep, everything is measured. It’s diabolical!
I am now doing an experiment of “unmeasurement” - I don’t set an alarm in the morning, I don’t wear a watch, I am not monitoring my weight religiously, I’m not worried about my food and drink, I don’t care how long I work out for or how, hence, The Vikid Freestyle. I’ve turned off the news, the economy, politics... I’ve stopped looking at the phone period.
Unthinking
Furthermore I am doing an experiment in unthinking.
Over the last two days it occurred to me that,
All media is hypnotism.
This includes The News, TV shows, Social Media, Music, Lectures, Interviews etc… and most importantly for me, Books.
If it streams it dreams
Or better still, it puts you in a dream.
Everything in the modern era is a sales pitch, nothing is pure art and even that is a sales pitch. It’s trying to sell you what is “beautiful”.
The only real way to see this is to switch off and then slowly let your brain start thinking for itself.
All media is created by another mind. When you consume it, no matter what it’s value, you have to adopt the stance of the other mind, to sync with it, and then ultimately get consumed by it.
This is ok, in small quantities, when you have regained your own minds autonomy but until then, switch off.
I am beginning to get back my autonomy. Stopping all the noise from outside and just letting myself be, with no special agenda, has been a revelation.
The Vikid Fast has been multidimensionary and set on my own terms, not someone else’s program.
If there is anything I would like to part with you, on this 7 day celebration, it is this:
Chart your own path by first switching it all off and going on a “food holiday”, for at least 7 days
Perhaps 3 is ok too. You decide, 3 is what I did last year. I’m just saying that now I reached 7, it’s amazing.
Design your own system. That’s even better.
and That’s all Folks,
The Vikid Truth
ps. Please share the hell out of this and subscribe!
