Break Fast
(Remember to turn your photos on in the email if you haven’t, it important for this post…)
It’s been a few days since I broke the fast and I’m back home from the South of France and there were some very interesting developments that I want to tell you all about…
The morning of break fast we took a lovely trek through the countryside to walk up to the village near by and that proved to be a perfect choice.
This was what I ate as my first meal in 20 days:

Blackberries as fresh as they come, ripe to perfection and sweet as honey!
As we proceed on the walk we found some black figs on the a tree:

This one was as sweet as a date and as succulent as a peach. Just scrumptious.
We continued to walk up the steep path towards the village fort upon the hill top. I continually scanned my stomach for any issues that might send me careening down the hill back home butt cheeks squeezed, but nothing happened I just felt great!
With the confidence eating the blackberries and figs had given me, I decided to go a little more ambitious. You see the theory is that after 20 days of not eating, your digestive system is a little frail. You have to be tender with it, to end your fast by drinking juices and smoothies for a few days and then only introduce solids by having vegetable soups etc… going for real solids after a good week.
Sensibilities
However, I was in no mood to be sensible. The fact that I am writing this blog is to give you the wicked truth, not a bland one and I needed some good material to give you guys!
So as a wanna be journalist and intrepid explorer, we got to a cafe and ordered some of these:

The Pain au Chocolat was out of this world! 20 days of restriction releases a feeling that is hard to describe. And again I monitored my bowels. Nothing! I just felt great.

View from the top of the village. The picture again, does no justice…
Feast
So after enjoying the scenery, we went back home for a relaxing swim. Lunch time came and I still felt great, OK… time to get a little more adventurous!
When my hosts offered me this:

Who was I to say no? What was I in France for?
So I went for it. The olives marinated in chili oil were so spicy, that I felt I was eating Chicken Tikka!
And the food stayed down, no tummy issues. Very interesting…
It came to dinner time. I was offered Champagne. Tick that box, then Grilled Garlic Prawns to accompany. Tick that box, many times!
Then the feast as given below:

Baby Zucchini Flowers (cooked with virgin olive oil, salt and pepper by yours truly)

Grilled White Fish with fresh lemons

Grilled Aubergines with Assorted Herbs Provencal

Garlic Butter Mushrooms

Green Tomato & White Onion Stew (made by yours truly).
And also a Sirloin Steak, pictures not included… but it didn’t stop there.
There was dessert too!

Tarte aux Pomme

Macaroons

Gateaux Tropezienne Vanielle (Heavenly)
A feast of feasts with nothing spared. I ate all that with some second helpings for added measure!
We put on a movie, a couple of rounds of whisky and I waited for trouble… still nothing. I slept that evening like a baby!
Next morning, I was up early with slight hangover to match the evening activities and I had to head to the airport. I got through security and was feeling hungry. I ordered a big Cheese and Serrano Baguette and a Croissant. I polished it before getting on the flight. Nothing but satisfaction. I got to Paris. Passed security for the second leg and entered the Terminal boarding area, there was nothing open but McDonald’s. Surely not! I wouldn’t be that crazy would I?
But yes, the Vikid is crazy, so I had a double cheeseburger. Not as good as I imagined. I think the Fast finally killed my love for MackyD’s. Hooray! I had no sign of tummy problems either. Nothing.
Boarded the flight, had a full meal onboard with two glass of red... still feeling stellar. All systems functioning as normal.
How very strange!
Refast
I’ve been back a couple of days. I’ve had Spicy Chinese Noodles, Wonton Soup, Arencini, Calamari, Pizza, Sushi and many other delectables. Feast after feast. I’ve had coffee this morning (that made me feel crap) and all was well.
Except however, something is nagging me…
I’m not done! I’m going for Round 2 of The Vikid Fast.
Number of days unrestricted, start date: tomorrow.
Let’s say we try 3 days minimum and as for a maximum, I am going to leave that to my body to decide. I think that’s the best way.
I think the moral of the story is this:
Your body (and mind) are incredibly amazing. Far more versatile and capable than we give them trust for or benefit. You can do pretty much anything you wish, and common sense is just that.
It is common & it isn’t often true.
It’s just common and we mistake ‘common’ with ‘truth’.
You are doing yourself a huge disservice if you limit yourself to commonalities.
Think about it.
That’s All Folks,

The Vikid Truth
