It’s true. The maze is inside you. What’s not so easy to see, is there is no real distinction between what’s “inside” you and what’s “outside” you, not withstanding your instinct screaming otherwise.
Some philosophers have likened the condition to a mirror. The outside world just reflects your inner condition. Though the common rat thinks the opposite, his conception is just the reverse. He blames the maze for his problems.
Many self help gurus call it “The Law of Rattraction” or what you think about becomes real. Think and Grow Rich… Think poorly and thine shall be your fruits…
Other thinkers claim the whole world is nothing more than thought itself, they come by many names but it’s safe enough to call them Ideal-Ratists. Others are just the opposite, there is no mind, just bumping particles and fields, they’re Material-Ratists. That’s the dogma de jour and probably the one you’ve been inculcated with.
The Vikid Truth had come to think that all of this thinking was a mindless game. The pondering of restless minds seeking a solution to a problem that did not exist.
All three Rats are coming out at the same time, once the researcher, that put them in, has ticked enough boxes on her clipboard. And after enough experimentation, they’re being fed to the pet snake.
That’s the Truth.
That goes for the Guru-Rat as much as his colleagues.
Life is very similar, you can advance in the maze as much as you wish. Play it for fun or profit or even whine about it. You could step on another rat to get the best cheese, or be magnanimous in cheese sharing and feel proud of it. You could become Guru-Rat, and tell everyone about The Maze.
“A good rat I am”, you will say to yourself, I have warned the others…
A noble rat be thee. But…
You’re just a rat.
And this is just a Rat Story, so don’t make too much of it.
And That’s,
Rats, guinea pigs, batteries.
