All things need to be maintained. This was the slow realization confronting Vikid.
Like Christianity, in Hinduism we have a kind of trinity too… we have Bhrama the Creator, Vishnu the Maintainer, and Shiva the Destroyer.
Creation and Destruction are self marketing.
Whether you focus on the creative types, from Aristotle to Zuckerberg, or the destructive stuff, from the Atomic Bomb to Zelenskyy, not much needs to said to promote them. They draw us in by their sheer spectacle. We’re instantly hooked.
Most of the modern economy is largely based on these two forces. From AI Startups to the Military Industrial Complex.
Right now it’s all about growth, destruction and radical changes.
It’s the basis for this revived fascination with War. World leaders are hell bent on it. They’ve spent 2 years worshiping a coke addicted “comedian” who cross dresses in private while acting the verdant military clown in front of the cameras. He has so far managed to kill over a million of his young male population while 15 million others have fled, a large number of whom are women of child bearing age. In short he has destroyed his country while is own personal bank balance (and the kleptocrats that fund him) has grown in the billions.
Hero.
The masses (and yes, that includes you people holding a university degree) are wholly oblivious to the real forces at play, lurking in the shadows. They’ve got their blinkers on with Netflix and Sports piped directly into their retinas. They all march forward to fulfill Joseph Schumpeter’s prophecy.
What no one really thinks about is the world,
“as it is”.
They think about how it isn’t or how it should be, according to some god forsaken ideology.
If you are part of the employed classes, it is mostly some icecap-melting, carbon dioxide filled, tree hugging, social justice soaked, vegan, soy latte, utopian nightmare.
If you’re part of the new financial class, it is some number dazzling, debt fueled, equity drenched, high leveraged, gym perspired, bicep pumping, AI enforced, crypto backed, market economy.
The older “business owner” class (like the monarchs before them) are dying a long prolonged death.
The Startup class are all about some Sham bam thank you Altman scam. Also called “creating value by any means necessary”. They’re fueled by the Financial classes. Basically rentiers who place multiple-value bets using other people’s money.
What no one really thinks about is Maintenance. That’s why the West is decaying while simultaneously creating the wealthiest companies on earth. The East has a different kind of problem which will manifest a couple decades later. They’re bent towards “productivity by any means necessary”.
Maintenance is not that sexy because one can’t take the financial or social credit for being a “Creative”, nor the engage in the cathartic release and voyeuristic joy of destruction.
But it’s more than that. Both creators and destroyers generally despise maintainers. So being a maintainer is the social equivalent of being a toilet cleaner. You will be as sexy as one as well.
Why?
Cause Maintainers get in the way.
In the way of dreams. In the way of great wealth accumulation or disruptive change.
Generally, to create something new, you got to first make space by getting rid of the old. So we do that by calling in the destroyers. All the great Creators have strong underlying links with Destroyers.
The guns always precede commerce.
Once the destruction is done, then only the creators can get to work.
That’s the main reason that socialism is so destructive. To form new social relations (their goal), old ones need to be severed (the means). Families need to be disbanded, marriages need to be broken up. Women need to be taught they’re better off without men, that children are a burden. Men need to be taught they’re better off without God and that masculinity is toxic.
Look around, turn on the TV, watch the latest hot Series, surf the Net. That’s the message.
Every socialist spouts Science and Feminism. Almost without fail.
Vikid realized that as much as he didn’t like it. It appeared that he was a maintainer, a struggling one at that. He was the vanquished Atlas, a once mighty Titan, who was ordered by Zeus to hold up the sky for eternity. A really thankless (but necessary) task. No body cares or even knows. Quite literally no one. And yet it must be held up.
The thing with maintenance is that it is naturally invisible. We are biological machines built to detect change. If things don’t change, we are oblivious to them.
You only notice the electric system when there’s a blackout.
Vikid then contended that much of what is truly glorious, is that which doesn’t change and is hence undetectable.
It seemed to one of the main tenets of Spiritualism and surprisingly of Science as well.
Let’s start with Science first.
It all revolves around first identifying what doesn’t change. That’s what a measuring rod is. And counterintuitively thats what a clock measures. You measure changes against the clock, which is constant.
Energy cannot be created or destroyed, remember. That’s is, the total energy of the system doesn’t change. Something maintains it. Space and time collaborate in such a way to never allow its creation or destruction. Emmy Noether managed to marry this idea with the notions of Symmetry. Her theorems are the literal backbone of modern science. Look them up.
Nobody knows about her either.
In matters of spirit, we understand that God, the universal power or whatever you want to call it is,
“out of time”
and hence, an eternal force, a field of the transcendental infinite.
It is the unmoving, the first cause, that which is everywhere and thus nowhere in particular. That which doesn’t not move, cannot be detected. Thus no scientific experiment will ever prove God, either in the positive or negative.
God is the ultimate unmoved, the perfection in stillness.
Why do you think mediation works?
Are you starting to get it?
Anyway, back to maintenance. Ultimately, it is an uphill battle, because everything decays. It is the natural order of things. It is part of the Trinity after all.
In fact it’s fractal.
In order to maintain, you need to create and to destroy.
You need to create children to maintain society. You also need to destroy subversive elements within.
You need to create products to maintain a company and quite often eliminate wasteful practices, and heaven help, your competition.
Anyways, I rambled on for a while now and will leave you with a thought provoking video. It’s long but will serve you well.
To all the Maintainers out there. Keep it real. Hold up the Sky. No one will thank you. Heck, they’ll probably crap on you for the pleasure…
And that’s,
Welcome back :)
