The DOOM

Open Secret Communication of Monsters

Vikid was at one time a linguist. He’s studied languages, how they were formed and constructed. His greatest interest was on how words were internalized inside the mind. How they acquired their meanings.

There was a new monster in town, destroying society with impunity. The monster was transhuman and could inhabit any person surreptitiously and they wouldn’t even know it. Each person it swallowed would become a monster in turn. It was a special monster, it got the clever first for the faster you learnt the quicker it could take you. First, the brains of society fell, then it started to multiply, swallowing whole populations with greater and greater frequency.

The monsters great trick was invisibility. It couldn’t be seen so people didn’t believe in it, attributing it’s destruction to other things, falsely. Thus they tried to solve false problems all the while The Monster sneered quietly going family to family, town to town destroying everything.

Vikid called it The DOOM.

Gedankenexperiment

He ran a thought experiment like a famous bushy haired scientist before him.

Imagine you were sitting on a bullet, learning a new language and the study went faster and faster... In your study materials came across this definition:

Chair - Sejo

Easy enough to learn. A chair is a simple object. So, Sejo meant chair in this language.

Everywhere you saw or heard “sejo” you would understand “chair”.

But something was wrong. Inside your heard, sejo wouldn’t feel like a chair. It would sound like a weird word, then your internal translator would come out and replace it with the word “chair”, and boom, you would now understand it.

At some point, after repeated use of the new word, your brain would perform a trick and “sejo” would mean “chair”, no translation needed, and the internalization would be complete.

You would get a feeling of knowing it.

The smarter you were, the quicker you could read, the faster the process would be.

How and when that happened was a mystery.

So Vikid declared words (W) are variable.

Feelings (f) are the constant of the Universe with the maximum speed of “knowing” (k).

He declared a new equation too:

W = f.R^2

Words = feelings x Repetition Squared. Where f = k at maximum.

He awaited the Nobel Cheese Price but it never did come, even though it was the cheesiest equation of the century. Instead his life work was used to create The DOOM by evil sorcerers.

The ORCs

First there were ORCs. A long time ago the sorcerers realized they could use a similar trick by effectively creating languages of their own and only sharing the translation rules to their fellow fiends. Communication could be made in public and no one except the fiends would be wiser. It was as if they were talking in Gibberish.

This later on Gibberish became the basis for almost all military & Internet traffic, especially e-commerce. Without this simple trick, buying and selling anything on the internet or doing any kind of bank transaction would be impossible. The sorcerers could control this and they were happy.

Vikid called it “Open Run Closed Communication ” (ORC) because while communication happened in the Open, the translation rules were Run Closed and kept secret. Only friends could understand what was spoken but they need ORCs to do it.

Birth of DOOM

However with all these secrets flying about there was one bigger problem. It didn’t allow for deceit. ORCs could be seen and people didn’t like secrets, especially when the secrets were about them. People asked to see the receipts.

Deceit wasn’t a simple problem because one needed to communicate in the open, with a language everyone understood and still have your secrets hidden within. Like the ancient Trojans, what was needed were ORCs hidden within open communication.

For this to happen The DOOM was created by very powerful sorcerers. The DOOM stood for Double Open Open Meaning. As Dual messages were passed in the Open, with Open Meanings.

The master tool of the Deceitful.

The DOOM was in essence a simple idea.

You repurposed words with common meanings. The trick was to attach them with new feelings using the Vikid Equation.

It took time, the words would have to be repeated until the brain played its magic and the words changed their feelings.

And while this was happening, the deceitful DOOMs could work with open impunity.

The public would be none the wiser. The DOOMs could communicate via news papers and press conferences while everyone was watching and no one would know what was really happening. What was being said in dual was only understood by a close circle DOOMs.

So how did it work? How were DOOMs being created?

The idea was simple but required lots of money and power, so was perfect for the DOOMs with means. The original DOOMs had plenty of that and conference abodes in remote islands and mountain tops.

The Ideas would be spread behind closed doors in Universities, News Rooms and Corporate Learning Centers. Anyone who wanted to earn a good living followed along, a few questioning souls could be filtered out.

And many DOOMs could be created in Publix School, for parents were at work and school children didn’t have a clue.

Little fresh minds for the taking. The cleverest and prettiest of all were taken first and sent to the top institutions.

So Vikid thought about the kind of repurposed words. There were many, so he indulged in a few.

First One was Recycle. It was taught at school.

Recycle originally meant to Reuse but with the DOOM transformation it meant “refuse”. Like a refuse dump. Children were taught if they threw unwanted items into a “green” colored dustbins, they were “recycling”.

Only the DOOMs knew that these now green items went into a ship and half way round the world were dumped onto unsuspecting poor kids (who didn’t go to school). Who would then strip out some valuable items, often toxic, for a loaf of rotten bread & a bed. (True story)

“Health and Safety” was another phrase that meant something to the public while it meant another to the DOOM.

Ordinarily you knew what it meant but actually it meant “Debilitating Regulations” for you and no regulations somewhere else where the DOOMs operated. Anytime the DOOMs wanted to accomplish something dreadful, they called it Health and Safety and the public would comply as only uncaring monsters were against it.

This way words were inverted and given Duality.

Like this The DOOM repurposed word after word. Vikid made a short list of common ones, each with a public feeling but also a DOOM understanding:

And on and on it went, thousands upon thousands, until people didn’t really know what things meant anymore but trusted the feelings triggered by them.

(Vikid will leave it as an exercise for the reader to find DOOM translations for this list and to find other such words and phrases.)

But Vikid wasn’t a passive hero. His equation was not to be used for evil purposes. So he sat and he thought about what could be done about it.

The solution was simple but it wasn’t easy, like running a marathon. It required training. It was hard work until it became easy.

The good news was the training could be done alone or with friends. No smart ass professors or middlemen.

So a created algorithm with kill the equation. The trouble was very few people were using it. They were already DOOM puppets but there was hope…

The Anti Doom Recipe

1. Trust no one. DOOM comes with the most pretty and friendly faces.

2. To watch, read and listen always with double meaning on the mind.

3. Watch for omissions.

4. Looking at words and stories, assessing the feelings behind them.

5. To find the DOOM meaning. Start by the application of inversion.

6. On top of that you have to look at the source and invariably you would find DOOM monsters everywhere behind them.

7. Avoid DOOM sources as entertaining or trusted they may be.

8. Spread the Message. Each DOOM meaning you find.

9. Become a DOOM Monster Slayer (DMS)

10. Find fellow DMSs

11. Most importantly REPEAT
