The Apple and The Moon
The World is Not as it Seems
In 1666, it is said that during the great plague, Newton was sitting under an apple tree contemplating, when a fruit fell down an conked him on the head. In that instant he equated the apple with the moon. The heavenly body fell under the same power as the humble fruit. From this he developed the Laws of Gravity and the rest is history.
Vikid was thinking about this story when he noticed a few interesting things.
One. The number 666. A number often attributed to THE DOOM.
Two. A plague. Biblical Symbol of Sin and God’s justice against it.
Three. The Apple - A Biblical Symbol of Eve, the forbidden fruit of knowledge and the fall of mankind.
Four. The Universal Force. A reference a power that controls the heavens and everything below it.
Vikid believed that these references were not so incidental, however he couldn’t expand further upon the topic. It was just something to notice.
Call it Coincidence Theory, if you must.
The World is not as it seems.
It is an illusion.
Science had practically proven this point.
It was Galileo who first posited that the language of Nature was Mathematics. The first matter of importance was to scrub our thought process of anything that couldn’t be mathematized. So we got rid of feelings, there could be no love or anger in science. We also got rid of color and other such mental objects. There was no red or blue, no softness or sweetness. There could be no opinion either, what you felt about a thing was irrelevant, etc.
What we were left with is, Size, Distance, Location, Shape and later on some other numbers such a Spin, Charge, Strangeness, etc. I.e. The relationships between different bits of matter. Matter being the only real thing in existence.
However it didn’t take long, perhaps 200 to 300 years for this apple cart to be turned upside down. No pun intended. The history is long and complex and contains many a famous name from Boltzmann to Feynman. There are literally thousands of books on the subject, so there will be no need to expound on the matter here but let it suffice to say that the ultimate fruit of this endeavor is that Science abandoned matter itself and ended with the situation that the world is in fact only mathematics. So Galileo wanted to explain Nature by the Language of Math but after a much computation we ended up with the situation that Nature is Math.
So, Vikid thought, what is Math?
A very deep question that took a good 20 years of study but ultimately ended up with just one thing.
Math is thought. A regimented form of thought, no doubt, with various Rules and Regulations, but also with plenty of imagination and flights of fancy.
Math is done in a Mind. It may be symbolized, written down, even partially computed, but ultimately it is immaterial and mental.
Yet it seems that everything Material is governed by it. And when you really probe down with Atom Smashers and Gargantuan Colliders using the techniques of Quantum Theory and Relativity, what we find is probabilities, non-locality, energy, multiple dimensions, entanglement, virtual particles, vibrating strings and a void that is bursting with potentiality.
We find that matter itself is just math.
When you probe in, you find a Grand Nothing.
On deep reflection this seems obvious, for what we did was remove anything that wasn’t Mathematical from the theory in the first place.
Is it not obvious that what we end up is just Math?
Perhaps not, for the world is not as it seems. It is an illusion. Stubbornly Persistent as Einstein liked to call it.
Then there are two other fields worth considering.
The Mental Arts
Faith
These are the realms of the Mystics and Religion.
The Mental Arts put the mind squarely at the center of enquiry. It involves meditation, a questioning of who we are, an exploration of our feelings, thoughts and the nature of awareness.
Faith, which has been much ridiculed, is actually a system of examining belief itself. It is not blind. It is by putting in the faith that we see the results. Results that are irreplicable and thus out of the purview of Science.
There is much that is dodgy in these arts, just as there is much dodgy science. Most science these days is dodgy. It’s a well known fact in the community but kept secret from much of the populace. The powers that be (THE DOOM) have hijacked Science, just as they hijacked Religion before it.
The fact is that Science uses a subset of thought. The subset is called mathematics and it deals with logical entities and quantities. It’s a labeling system with rules. That is the definition of a language.
Thought is itself a subset of awareness, we are aware of many a thing which is not thought. The sweet ecstasy of sex is no thought at all. So is the hunger that drives your every action.
There is no material explanation for why gravity bends space, how light travels in a void, how immaterial “fields” vibrate on no substrate. Our entire civilization is built on the electromagnetic effect. Immaterial fields effecting each other. What makes water, water, is the geometric relationship between its molecules and thus the asymmetric distribution of electromagnetic moments. It’s really got fuck all to do with hydrogen or oxygen which themselves are geometric clouds of nothingness interacting with itself.
For the New Year that is rapidly advancing, Vikid would like to leave you with one thought.
Think of the Apple and Moon.
Take joy and understand the mental arts. Those mystics were onto something. And take faith. Faith requires faith. It interacts with itself, out of nothingness. Like the rest of Nature. Screw those that ridicule it.
