He hadn’t written or read much in days. Most of the time he was lost in thought and if not he was playing with his collection of guitars.
At times it felt like he was on the verge of a breakthrough, and at other times it felt his fingers were made of lead.
Today he was thinking of bad news and how people dealt with it. There were a few sides to this coin. There was bad news that you hear about, it happens to someone else, elsewhere, and there was bad news that hits you directly, in your gut, as they say.
Most of us have been the recipients of both forms.
Let’s think about one kind of bad news.

From what I could see, the company was worth maybe a small fraction of it, before it was bought for $43bn.
Let’s look at its earnings.
Yes, all those minus signs are actually losses. As a bonus exercise, you can add all those numbers up to calculate its losses since inception.
So why would Pfizer buy such a company for such a large amount of money?
Let’s look at their revenues:
Pretty exponential. But for their investment to make sense, the revenues will have to continue this meteoric rise for a while yet.
And what does this company sell?
Cancer medication and treatment.
So what does Pfizer see?
A prudent guess would be an exponential rise in Cancers.
Let’s call that SUPER CANCER.
That’s friggin bad news if you ask me. It’s going to hit one in three. That’s how $43bn makes sense.
Now the question you might want to ask is why they expect such an exponential rise in this kind of illness and what their intentions are. We are not talking of small sums of money.
Could it be the result of some ‘safe and effective’ medicine that was given to most of the world population just a couple of years ago, again and again?
Coincidence? Angels, coming for another rescue?
Hard to say, one can only speculate.
