(This post is best read with a strong Indian accent)
Action = Reaction,
What goes around comes around,
What you sow, you will reap.
There is no free lunch… (Mon Capitan)
Do unto others,
as you would have them do unto you,
F’ck around, find out…
Karma Karma (Chameleon).
From Newton to Hinduism, these are old Truths. Some call it Natural Law. The inescapable machinations of our universe. Cast in Iron and unbreakable.
When you jump of a cliff and hurtle down, the ground races up with equal speed until collision. You hit the ground down, as hard as it hits you up. Action equals reaction.
When you spray pesticides on crops, it enters the food and water system. Allergies, Metabolic Disease and Cancer spread from canister to human. (But they want you to think it is Smoking)
You reap what you sow.
When you treat others like garbage. Guess what? One day it returns, full force. (You label it Terrorism)
Do unto others… mon Capitan.
But it ain’t the Truth.
It’s Truth, only at one level of reality.
It’s truth observed from only one point of view.
Karma Karma is a Chameleon.
Let us examine why, though it is beyond examination, we can try.
Let’s start with every new age guru’s favorite appeal to (pseudo)science. The Spooky World of Quantum Mechanics.
In the Quantum realm, the ideas of Cause and Effect are broken, according to common sense. They are in fact broken to highly rigorous Classical Senses.
Much of what appears to happen at the quantum scale, happens by chance. Purely Random in every sense. The decay of a proton. The motion of an electron. The creation of virtual particles out of the nothingness, etc etc.
However when we scale things up, either in time or by number, the classical order reappears. So for example, we don’t know what any one electron is doing individually but on the large scale, we have very well defined laws of electricity.
Isaac Asimov used this idea very cleverly in his Foundation Series of Books, except instead of electrons, he used humans. Instead of electricity he used civilization itself. If you haven’t ready these books already, I highly recommend them. (For the love of God, avoid the Apple Series)
Microchip manufacturers also use these phenomenon to build chips. The chip in the device your reading this article on, uses Quantum Tunneling.
What we are talking about is known as the “boundary problem”.
The point here is not a lesson in Quantum Mechanics, chip building or a philosophical discussion into the metaphysics of the collapsing Wave Function.
We can’t even ask “Why?”… because it presupposes the why.
Cause and effect are broken if you buy the theory in any sense. Famously, Einstein didn’t. So you are in some good company if you don’t.
“Why?”, presupposes cause and effect.
There are levels of Truth and a famous boundary between them.
What makes sense at one level, doesn’t at the other.
(Incidentally, this is the problem with all politics. Solutions at one level, don’t work at another. Scale is vitally important.)
So let Sri Sri Mahavikid Maharishi be your New Age Sage, for what happens next is truly monumental.
Om…
You can escape the Laws of Karma…
if you live in the moment.
(This is the realm in which Cause and Effect are broken)
Om…
Actually all you have ever done is live in the moment. Thus you are already breaking cause and effect continuously,
Om…
but when you look at your day (or life) in the aggregate, it appears to follow Natural Law.
A seeming contradiction.
Om…
(Stick with me here and remember the strong Indian accent)
It’s seems like a contradiction because thinking is a processes in the aggregate, it happens over time, while being is in the moment, is timeless.
It crosses the boundary.
Om..
There is only Moment,
Time is a Construct (of the aggregate).
Om…
And thus suffering happens only in the aggregate.
You cannot suffer in the present.
Om… (x2)
Being is thought in manifestation,
whereas thinking is it’s aggregate.
(An easy mistake to be making)
The aggregate is imagination, not reality, however what we imagine, becomes real.
(Double contradiction)
Om…
All thought, whether it is love, hate, joy, despair, success or failure have a boundary by definition. They are encircled and captured. They are the Aggregate.
Reality and the moment of what is, cannot be captured or put neatly in a definitional box.
Om…
The boundless is neither Nothing, nor is it Infinite. Those two are also bounded entities.
(The concept of boundlessness is itself has a boundary)
Om…
To break the laws of Karma you need do nothing, at all. Just lose all attachment to it, which is as natural and effortless as Natural Law itself.
Om… (x 10)
And that my friends is,
You’re smoking better quality weed. I appreciate that.
