We don’t know what we are made of, why we are here or what the hell is going on.
And that is the real long and short of it.
I made a strong attempt, still do, but the further I’ve come a long, the more I realized that I might have actually been on a merry-go-round, or perhaps in reverse gear.
Then you realize the journey was worth it anyway. It’s about giving yourself options. When you read far and wide, engage in a wide variety of activities and people, walk in different natural environments, along cliffs, jump out of planes, face wild animals without protection etc. you start to get this synthesis. Hard to describe, hard to convey, it sits there like an active illumination.
Sometimes you have to just listen to joyful music. Take this little gem.
Can you see his light. Jacob is pure light. When I touch a guitar its like I’ve thrown it in a washing machine, if you are making comparisons. I am not. When I play, it is also light for me.
Or take this guy. Richard Grannon.
Do not be afraid.
“I don’t want to get depressed or I have no time…”
That’s the greatest excuse I hear from my friends. They just don’t want to face reality.
I say face it.
You might go a little mad for a little bit. But you will also recover. Be stronger and shine stronger after it.
Some years back now. On the cusp of the first lockdowns. Just 2-3 days before it. I was on a short trip to Bangalore, India. I took early retirement for the night but just lay in bed, in a semi stupor, semi medicinal meditation and the vision of what Evolution actually is came to me.
There has always been a great divide between the Materialist/Mechanisists and the Divine/Intelisists. Neodarwinists explain it through laws of physics, chemical memory and randomness. There is no one home. The Religious / Spirituals have another mechanism called God or Divine Intelligence. Someone is definitely home.
That night I saw they are the same thing. I actually saw it. The branches of the tree growing, evolving, splitting and rejoining. How mechanics and intelligence are actually one thing. The whole is made of parts and the parts are made of the whole.
I wish I could say more. I don’t play like Collier and I can’t speak like Grannon but my heart does. And so does yours.
